This is a hike to the mountain Cerro Pico Blanco 2271m (7450 foot), which is the shortest hike. This is great to see how quickly you can go from the hustle of the central valley back to unspoilt rainforest. When we start on the last 3km of the 6.5km to the top we are constantly rewarded with amazing views and nice resting spots where the confidant Green Spiny Lizards bask in the sun. At the top there is a great view looking west where you really get the feeling of how high you are. We return the same way down the mountain.
Most people of a moderate fitness can do this hike although it is challenging. For more information click on the link above.
This hike climbs two peaks. The first Cerro Pico Blanco which has great views of the central valley. From there we go straight onto the second peak Cerro Cedral 2420m (7939 foot) 150m higher than Cerro Pico Blanco. Here we are in highland tropical forest, which presents obstacles of fallen trees and landslides. The hike then gradually descends going west rewarding us with great dramatic views until we reach the rural town of Bebedero where there's a nice little shop for refreshments. Then we carry on to where we started Iglesia de San Antonio.
This is quite a difficult hike as the trail poses obstacles but very rewarding. For more information click on the link above.
